The Basic Rider Course is usually given every weekend in the summer and two weekends a
month in the winter. It is a three day course; Friday night 5-9 and Saturday and Sunday 7-4. If
you are interested in taking the Experienced Rider Course, it is given by appointment with the
instructors so please give us a call or an email. We look forward to hearing from you!

* Motorcycles and helmets provided
* Limited number of loaner goggles and gloves available
* Qualifies graduates for insurance premium discounts given by most motorcycle insurers.

The Basic RiderCourse is aimed at beginning riders of all ages. A minimum of seven hours
classroom instruction prepares the student for at least eight hours of practical riding in a
controlled, off-street environment, typically a parking lot.

In this course, you'll learn how to operate a motorcycle safely, with a lot of emphasis on the
special skills and mental attitude necessary for dealing with traffic.
Your RiderCoaches are certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. We'll start you off with
straight-line riding, turning, shifting and stopping. You'll gradually progress to cornering,
swerving and emergency braking. In the classroom you'll learn about the different types of
motorcycles, their controls, and how they operate.
The RiderCoaches, all experienced motorcyclists, will advise you on what to wear for comfort
and protection. You'll find out how alcohol and other drugs affect your ability to ride safely. A
very important segment of the course will show you how to create your own strategy for riding
in traffic, and dealing with critical situations. The course concludes with a knowledge test and
skill evaluation. You'll smile with satisfaction as the RiderCoach hands you the course
completion card.

Requirements:
We require you to have a valid driver's license, over the ankle footwear, long sturdy pants (i.e.,
jeans),  sufficient gloves for motorcycle riding, and protective eyewear if your helmet does not
have a face shield. We have helmets to provide you with but if you choose one
that does not have a face shield, you need to have eye protection.
The minimum age to take the Basic Rider Course is 14 years of age. If you are below the age
of 16 or do not have a driver license, you must have a motorcycle license which is given after
passing a 25 question written test at your local DMV.
*If you have any questions about these requirements, please call 251-442-7612.
